Voyages of Sea Turtle

Voyages of Sea Turtle

I worked with the SSB radio again today. We replaced one of the ends on the coax cable between the radio and the tuner. Didn't get time to test the results. That's a project for tomorrow.

One of the problems I am having is that I don't know what the radio should sound like. The plethora of channels and frequencies is mind numbing. The first of the week a friend will be on his boat and we can try to talk to each other. Maybe that will clarify things some.
We are creating this blog to chronicle the trials and tribulations (voyages) of the s/v Sea Turtle.

We purchased Sea Turtle as Grace in Rock Hall MD in late June of 2013. She is a 36 foot Island Packet Estero. We spent 24 days bringing her down the Chesapeake Bay and the ICW to Little River SC.

Since then we have been making modifications (read improvements) to prepare her for offshore cruising.  The first major project was to install support for our dingy and outboard.  The second project was to install a SSB radio for offshore communications. That is the current and unfinished job.
